Fort Worth Arlington Heights lineman A'Shawn Robinson has become the third commit for Texas' 2013 recruiting class.
The 6-4, 305-pound Robinson fts the mold Texas coaches have been trying to fill with a bigger, more physical style which has come from several assistant coaches with extensive SEC backgrounds hired by Longhorns coach Mack Brown.
Robinson's projects well with his sioze and he has the mobility to also star for Heights' basketball team which qualified for the UIL 4A state tourney last year and is about to head back into the state playoffs.
Texas received its first commitment from Celina lineman Jake Raulerson and Jesuit wide receiver Jake Oliver committed to Texas on Wednesday. All three players are 6-4 or taller. Texas also is hoping for a commitment in the near future from 6-5 Sealy dual-sport athlete (receiver/basketball player) Ricky Seals-Jones.
All four players were visitors at Texas' first Junior Day this past Sunday as they toured the athletic facilites and met with Brown, viewed video with staff and mingled with players and academic support staff as well.
Robinson has been highly rated and recruited. He'd tentatively set other unofficial visits for Alabama, Baylor and LSU. Arkansas, Arizona, Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Oregon, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Georgia, Auburn and Notre Dame also have been actively recruiting.
