Tons of talent at the state 7-on-7 tournament

There were 120 teams and thousands of players that made their way to College Station this past week for the state 7-on-7 championship tournaments.
LoneStarPreps.com made the trip and watched several of the matchups on the 11 different fields. Here is a position-by-position breakdown featuring some of the top performers and standout prospects from the tournament.

Quarterbacks:
Tristen Wallace DeSoto (TX) - 2016: The Ohio State commit is an impressive prospect and certainly passes the eye test with a 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame. Wallace does a lot of damage with on the ground during the regular season, but showed a strong arm and the ability to make several throws at the tournament this weekend.
D'Eriq King Manvel (TX) - 2016: The longtime TCU commit is listed as an athlete in the Rivals database, but King plays quarterback for the Mavericks and chose the Horned Frogs for an opportunity to play quarterback at the next level. The standout prospect led his teammates to the finals with several long touchdown passes on the day, continuing to show off his strong arm and accuracy at the quarterback position.
Chris Robison Mesquite (TX) Horn - 2017: The Rivals100 prospect and newly committed Oklahoma Sooner proved once again why he is considered one of the best signal callers in the 2017 class. Robison had the best arm and some of the liveliest throws over the weekend, but the standout prospect makes the throwing motion look easy. New offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley added a very solid quarterback prospect early in the recruiting process with Robison.
Other standouts at the QB position: Bowman Sells, Ty Brock, Avery Davis and Zadock Dinkelmann.
Running Backs:
Rakeem Boyd Stratford (TX) - 2016: The Rivals250 running back prospect actually played on defense during the tournament out of necessity for his team, but the four-star back moved quickly and showed great athleticism given the circumstances. At 6-foot, 195-pounds, Boyd is very compact and almost built like a linebacker. He has the frame to continue adding weight and most coaches are recruiting him to play the every down, all-purpose back position.
J.K. Dobbins La Grange (TX) - 2017: The Rivals100 prospect was all over the field for La Grange and proved to one of the better athletes playing in the Division II bracket. Dobbins showed great versatility and quickness, something several college coaches have already taken notice of early in the recruiting process.
Other standouts at the RB position: D'Vaughn Pennamon, Brandon Stephens, Toneil Carter, Darius Anderson and Kaegun Williams.
Wide Receivers:
Reggie Hemphill Manvel (TX) - 2016: The four-star prospect and longtime Texas commit made several catches for the Mavericks over the weekend. It seemed like anytime they needed to make a play, King would look Hemphill's way and the chemistry between the two was very evident. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound prospect moved very well and held his own when challenged physically for intermediate passes and jump balls.
K.D. Nixon DeSoto (TX) - 2017: The Rivals250 prospect is small in size, but brought a big game to College Station. Nixon showed elite speed and gave defenders fits all weekend long. He ran clean routes, getting space on both short and deep routes with ease. Simply put, Nixon is a playmaker and the DeSoto coaches will continue to get the ball in his hands in any way possible.
Brandon Bowen Trophy Club (TX) Byron Nelson - 2016: The Rivals100 prospect is known for rushing the edge at defensive end, but Bowen actually played a tight end or slot receiver role at the tournament this weekend. The massive 6-foot-5, 230-pound prospect bullied his way across the middle of opposing defenses and ended up catching several touchdown passes.
Other standouts at the WR position: Tren'Davian Dickson, Jared Atkinson, Quartney Davis, Dee Anderson, Brailon Mouton, Davion Curtis, Adewale Omotosho, Jalen Reagor, Hunter Hagdorn, Kofi Boateng, Donell Dunn and Camron Buckley.
Tight Ends:
J.C. Chalk and Brock Wright: The tight end position doesn't usually get much play in the 7-on-7 setting, but Chalk and Wright certainly stood above the rest when it came to tight end prospects around the tournament.
Wright, a 2017 Rivals100 prospect, looks like he could easily suit up for a college program today at 6-foot-5, 240-pounds. He was one of the more physically impressive prospects from the weekend.
Athletes:
Grayland Arnold Kountze (TX) - 2016: The longtime Baylor commit played both side of the ball for Kountze, making plays at both quarterback and corner over the weekend. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect turned heads throughout the tournament and showed the type of quickness the Baylor coaches continuously recruit to Waco.
Other standouts at the ATH position: Kyle Porter and Zach Hall.
Linebackers:
Jordyn Brooks Stratford (TX) - 2016: The Texas Tech commit already has a great frame at 6-foot-1, 230-pounds and moved around very well in coverage. Brooks seemed to fly under the radar until right before the commitment, but he certainly turned some heads over the weekend and showed why over 10 FBS programs reached out with offers.
Anthony Hines Plano (TX) East - 2017: The Rivals250 linebacker holds an insane amount of offers from programs across the country, but the standout prospect is probably one of the more humble kids when it comes to the recruiting notoriety. At 6-foot-2, 218-pounds, Hines already has a big frame and made several plays all over the field over the weekend. The 7-on-7 setting might not be the best to showcase Hines' overall game though, he shines when the pads are on and he can put a hit on the opposing team.
Other standouts at the LB position: Jordan Carmouche and DeMarco Boyd.
Defensive Backs:
Derrick Tucker Manvel (TX) - 2017: The Rivals100 safety was flying around the field over the weekend, making several interceptions and the standout prospect always seemed to be around the football. At 6-foot-3, 178-pounds, Tucker already has elite size and will only continue to grow with a few years left at the high school level.
DaMarcus Fields Taylor (TX) - 2016: The Texas Tech commit played both ways for Taylor over the weekend and was very athletic from the corner position, making a few key interceptions that changed things for his team in a couple of games. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, Fields has a big frame for a corner prospect and is very quick on his feet.
Other standouts at the DB position: Collin Wilder, Michael Clark, Travis Whillock, Deontay Anderson and Eric Sutton.
