Sooners haul in Euless Trinity star

Euless Trinity receiver Brandon Carter has committed to Oklahoma after the Sooners' weekend camp.

Carter impressed the Sooners during the coaches' spring evaluations and theoldcoach.com reported Carter had become an Oklahoma target. Carter is primarily a wide receiver and will play some quarterback this season. He was a middle school and freshman quarterback. Oklahoma will look at him as an inside receiver and/or cornerback.

At last Saturday's Sooners' camp, Trinity Class of 2012 linebacker Brian Nance also impressed Sooners coaches and is being evaluated.

"There's always lots of surprises as college coaches make their spring evaluation rounds. One of the hottest North Texas players is Euless Trinity receiver Brandon Carter, who caught a fade pass in the end zone for the winning touchdown in the Trojans' 41-38 overtime victory against Austin Westlake in the Class 5A Division I state-title game at the Alamodome.

Carter (5-11, 160) is a little undersized but is over-the-top with the It Factor. He makes plays against the best of competition. Carter said he's picked up official offers this week are Oklahoma, Minnesota, Duke and Tulsa. Carter had lots of interest but no offers.

But Carter is coming off a strong performance at the TCU NIKE Camp a month ago. Carter is a good route runner and goes after the catch. He's got the "My ball" attitude which Oklahoma coaches really rate high and likely led to the Sooners' offer. Carter will get several more offers in the coming weeks."

Oklahoma now has 13 commits for the Class 2011 _ 12 of them are from Texas. Former Trinity TE Chris Barnett has transferred to A. Maceo Smith to play for his dad and is no longer an Oklahoma commit.
