Plano West LB recruiting hits Northwest, SoCal

The "What I Did This Summer" essay by Plano West senior Bryce Cottrell continues to expand. Cottrell has been at Oregon the last two days and leaves the Northwest on Tuesday for a couple days in Southern California for USC's nationally known Rising Stars Camp on Wednesday and Thursday. Before he returns home to North Texas, Cottrell could pick up a USC offer.
Cottrell already has offers from across the country ranging from Syracuse and Boston College in the Northeast, across the Southeast with several Arkansas, Mississippi State and other SEC school, Wake Forest in the ACC and through the Midwest and Southwest as well.

Cottrell is coming off a strong junior season with Plano West after getting 80 tackles with five sacks. The 6-3, 220-pounder is projected as combination hand-down/standup linebacker prospect. The returning All-District 8-5A linebacker has shined in Plano West's 3-4 defensive alignment heading into his third year as a starter.
Cottrell is the lastest top prospect at Plano West following Jackson Jeffcoat signing with Texas in 2009 and Class of '11 California signee Nathan Broussard. And there is more on the way with younger brother Lance Cottrell, a 2014, linebacker who already has been offered by SMU.
