Katy (TX) Trio makes the call:
S Collin Wilder: The four-star prospect committed to Houston this week and surprised many who had assumed Wilder would join his teammates, who we will discuss shortly, and commit to the same school at the next level. Wilder is one of the leaders of a very solid Katy defense, playing safety and helping to keep his teammates aligned on every single play. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect chose to stay home and chose the Cougars over offers from Northwestern, Wisconsin, Boston College, Duke, Tulane, Minnesota, SMU, Texas Tech and Tulsa.
LB Paddy Fisher: The three-star prospect committed to Northwestern this week over his other finalist Baylor. At 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, Fisher is a commanding presence on the Katy defense and does a great job of keeping things in front of him, showing tremendous athleticism and range. He chose the Wildcats over offers from Baylor, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Maryland, Washington and Wisconsin.
S Travis Whillock: The two-star prospect committed to Northwestern this week and joined his teammate Paddy Fisher by choosing the Wildcats. Whillock and Wilder are key pieces of a very good Katy defense and both players help lead the defense from the safety position. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect is a bigger defensive back that is not afraid to come into the box and make big tackles. Whillock chose Northwestern over offers from Boston College, Houston, Iowa state, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Nevada, Texas State, Tulane, Utah State and Wisconsin.
DFW area DT commits to Stanford
DT Michael Williams: Far from the usual announcement, the three-star prospect simply changed his profile on social media to include 'Stanford commit' and the internet crowd took notice on Friday afternoon. Williams collected over 30 FBS offers throughout the process and chose the Cardinals over offers from Ohio State, Baylor, UCLA, Oklahoma and several other programs. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound prospect is now recovered from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the majority of this past off season, but Williams is a big bodied athlete that should play multiple positions along the line for Stanford.
Other commitments from across the state:
Fort Worth (TX) Arlington Heights WR Deion Hair'Griffin: The 5-foot-10, 150-pound unrated receiver prospect committed to North Texas this week over offers from Army, SMU and Louisiana-Monroe.
Huntsville (TX) WR Jay Griffin: The two-star prospect committed to Utah this week over offers from UCF and New Mexico State.
Allen (TX) OLB Jakob Yandell: The 6-foot-2, 195-pound unrated linebacker prospect committed to Texas State this week. The offer from Texas State is the only offer for Yandell at the moment, but coaches from TCU, Nebraska and Texas Tech have been in contact with interest.
Coppell (TX) OL Dylan Galloway: The 6-foot-5, 271-pound offensive lineman prospect committed to Oklahoma State after receiving an offer from the Cowboys recently. The two-star prospect chose Oklahoma State over offers from UTSA, Nevada and Arkansas State.
Copperas Cove (TX) CB Shamad Lomax: The 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect committed to New Mexico State over one other offer from Air Force and interest from a handful of in-state programs, including TCU, North Texas and UTSA.
Houston (TX) Strake Jesuit DT John Lilly: The 6-foot, 270-pound prospect committed to Texas State this week. The offer from Texas State is the only offer for Lilly at the moment, but coaches from Duke, Rice, Kansas and SMU have been in contact with interest.
Missiouri City (TX) Ridge Point P Grant Carlson: The standout special teams prospect verbally committed to Boston College this week over offers from Army and Cornell.
