A weekly feature, 'New Commits This Week' will detail each new commitment from the state of Texas. Lets take a look at the 24 commitments from around the state this week.
Rivals250 S commits to Ole Miss:

Allen (Texas) safety Jaylon Jones collected 20-plus FBS offers throughout the recruiting process. The 5-foot-11, 172-pound defensive back is the No. 17 safety in the nation, the No. 243 prospect in the latest Rivals250 rankings and the No. 35 player on the Rivals.com Texas Spring Top 100 for the 2016 class. Jones chose the Rebels over his other finalists Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas A&M and USC - giving Ole Miss a total of 19 commitments for the 2016 class.
New commits in the Big12:
Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point offensive tackle Travis Bruffy committed to Texas Tech this week. The 6-foot-7, 271-pound prospect chose the Red Raiders over other offers from Louisiana Tech, Rice, Louisiana-Lafayette and New Mexico.
Godley (Texas) offensive guard Blake Hickey committed to Kansas State this week. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect chose the Wildcats over other offers from Akansas State, Cal, Colorado State, Duke, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette, Memphis, North Texas, Northwestern, Purdue, Texas State and Toledo.
Oklahoma State adds two new commits from Texas:
DeSoto (Texas) running back La'Darren Brown committed to Oklahoma State this week. The 5-foot-10, 178-pound prospect chose the Cowboys over other offers from Arizona State, SMU and Oregon State.
Spring (Texas) Klein Oak offensive tackle Ryan McCollum committed to Oklahoma State this week. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect chose the Cowboys over other offers from Air Force, Houston, Louisiana-Lafayette, Nevada, Northwestern, Texas State, Texas Tech and Tulsa.
New commits in the Pac12:
Houston (Texas) Westfield dual-threat quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole committed to Arizona State this week over other finalists Houston, Florida, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal caller is the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback in the nation, the No. 209 prospect in the latest Rivals250 rankings and the No. 24 player on the Rivals.com Texas Spring Top100 for the 2016 class.
Houston (Texas) Klein Collins outside linebacker Cameron Goode committed to Cal this week. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound prospect chose the Golden Bears over other offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Kansas, Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas State.
Maryland adds WR from Texas:
Richmond (Texas) Foster wide receiver Evan Fairs committed to Maryland this week. The 6-foot-3, 182-pound prospect chose the Terps over other offers from New Mexico, Sam Houston State and UTSA.
Houston continues hot streak with two new commits:
Crosby (Texas) offensive lineman Kennan Murphy committed to Houston this week. The 6-foot-2, 295-pound prospect chose the Cougars over other offers from Colorado, East Carolina, Memphis, Missouri, Texas State, Texas Tech and UTSA.
John Tyler (Texas) defensive tackle Braylon Jones committed to Houston this week. The 6-foot-3, 278-pound prospect chose the Cougars over other offers from Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Navy and SFA.
Four other prospects leaving the state:
Manvel (Texas) wide receiver Sean Dykes committed to Memphis this week. The 6-foot, 216-pound prospect chose the Tigers over another offer from New Mexico.
Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson wide receiver Dominic Distefano committed to Army this week. The offer from the Black Knights was the only offer at the moment for the 5-foot-7, 150-pound prospect.
Manvel (Texas) wide receiver Hunter Hagdorn committed to Dartmouth this week. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect chose the Big Green over other offers from Colorado State, Cornell, Harvard, Illinois and Lamar.
Richmond (Texas) George Ranch defensive tackle Tessylim Anifowoshe committed to McNeese State this week. The 6-foot-1, 255-pound prospect chose the Cowboys over another offers from South Dakota.
Other commitments from around the state:
Sam Houston State added three new commitments this week - DE Traver Vliem, DB Bryan Henderson and QB Caleb Griffin.
Lamar added two new commitments this week - LB Jarett Carpenter and QB Adam Morse.
Texas State added TE Brendon Rushing and SFA added OL Cooper Williams.
2017 commits around the state this week:
Austin (Texas) Westlake 2017 pro-style quarterback Sam Ehlinger committed to Texas this week. The 6-foot-1, 207-pound prospect chose the Longhorns over other offers from Houston, McNeese State and SMU.
Pearland (Texas) 2017 inside linebacker Derek Parish committed to Houston this week. The offer from the Cougars was the only offer for 6-foot-2, 235-pound prospect at the moment.
Cibolo (Texas) Steele 2017 athlete Xavier Martin committed to Texas Tech this week. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect played wide receiver last season and is set to take over at quarterback for Steele this season. He committed to the Red Raiders to play quarterback and the offer from Texas Tech was his only offer at the moment.
