Mesquite Horn rolls Rowlett

ARLINGTON -- The Mesquite Horn Jaguars (8-4) advanced to third round of the playoffs for the first time in school history with a convincing 44-22 win over the Rowlett Eagles (9-3) late Friday night at Cowboys Stadium.
Horn was led by QB Collin Strahan who ran for four touchdowns and 128 yards rushing along with 250 passing yards and a touchdown. Strahan staked Horn out to a quick 7-0 lead as he hooked up with Jakeem Grant for an 80 yard touchdown pass and the Jaguars never looked back.

Rowlett made things interesting in the second half scoring a pair of touchdowns of Horn fumbles, that cut what was a 20-3 Horn lead to 20-15 at the half. The first score came on a three yard touchdown reception by sophomore TE Corey Manges, then right before the half Treyvon Green scored on a 16 yard run to make things interesting.
The second half would prove to be all Horn as Rowlett never threatened. Next week Horn will take on the winner of tomorrow's matchup between Klein and Leander in the Class 5A Division II Region II Semi-Finals at a date and location to be determined.
