Refugio offensive lineman Wayne Frazier said he planned to sign with Texas-El Paso instead of SMU. But the Mustangs picked up a commitment from Goliad wide receiver Aaron Franklin.
The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Frazier started at guard for the Bobcats and was a first-team All-District 30-2A selection.
Frazier said he intended to attend SMU in August, but changed his mind and firmed up his decision to attend Texas-El Paso after visiting with head coach Mike Price earlier this week.
The 6-2, 185-pound Franklin was a first-team All-District 28-3A pick and was selected as the All-Around Player on the Advocate's all-area team.
Franklin played running back, wide receiver, defensive back and returned kicks for the Tigers.
Franklin caught 41 passes for 506 yards and six touchdowns and is likely to play wide receiver at SMU.
Franklin and Frazier are expected to make their commitments official on national signing day Wednesday.
Edna's D.J. Yendrey is expected to fulfill a commitment he made to TCU last summer and sign with the Horned Frogs.
The 6-3, 245-pound Yendrey earned first-team All-District 28-3A honors at tight end and on the defensive line.
Cuero lineman Klayton Smith is expected to sign with Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, and linebacker Jake Rangnow is expected to sign with Blinn College in Brenham.
Rice Consolidated running back Zacchaeus Foster and wide receiver Marquis Toliver are also scheduled to sign with Blinn College.
