Golden Gun Allen adds second offer

After San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights quarterback Drew Allen won the Elite 11's Golden Gun award for accuracy on Friday, he hoped it would help him kick-start his recruiting and start picking more offers.
Well it seems that the respective first domino has fallen.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Allen just added his second offer from Wake Forest.
"Coach (Tom) Elrod has been talking to me for the past few weeks. He sent me an email saying to call him anytime and so I decided to call him tonight. We were talking about Wake Forest and how it was such a great place. Then he said they wanted to extend me an official offer right now. I'm very excited and everything because I've heard such good things about Wake Forest."
Now some may see it as a coincidence that the Demon Deacons just happened to offer after Allen took top honors at the Elite 11. Allen said that coach Elrod did not say that they were offering just because they heard about his performance at the camp.
"Not necessarily," Allen said. "He just said the coaches had been talking for quite some time about me and he said he's going to come to my school next week and see me. He said they watched me film a lot and that he had heard about that. He just said they figured why wait any longer and to go ahead and give me an offer."
Now that he has a new offer in hand, Allen says he definitely wants to make the trip up to check out the Wake Forest campus.
"Sometime this Summer I definitely want to go visit Wake Forest and get to know the coaches more. I don't know much about the school, but I'm going to learn more," Allen said.
Since the camp Allen has also talked to a couple other coaches that are eager to come see him this Spring.
"It's only been a couple days, but I've talked to a couple of coaches. I called Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. They're going to come down for Spring ball," Allen said.
However, even with the new offer, Allen says he is still in no hurry to make his decision.
"No sir. I want to see campuses and maybe pick up a couple more offers. I'm not in any hurry," Allen said.
Last season Allen threw for 2,589 yards and 28 touchdowns.
