PLANO-- The Frisco Raccoons (9-2) got a monster effort from Carlos Harris on both sides of the ball to earn a thrilling 25-24 win over Wylie East (8-3) in a Class 4A Division II Region II Bi-District Playoff. Harris hauled in the game winning two point conversion pass from QB Eric Allen with just 1:33 remaining and then on the ensuing possession with Wylie East driving to win the game Harris picked off a pass to secure the Raccoons first playoff win since 2006.
It was a back and forth affair that had the tone of play dictated by a brutal blowing south to north, Frisco took an early 7-0 on a five yard run by Harris. But right before halftime Wylie East which had the wind in the second quarter scored twice within the last minute of the quarter to take a 14-7 lead. East tied the game with 54 seconds left in the half on a 41 yard touchdown run by Jabari Anderson who finished the game with 191 yards and two touchdowns. After a Frisco fumble, East took the lead with eighteen seconds remaining as Marcell Ateman hauled in a five yard touchdown pass from Garrett McCain making it 14-7.
Frisco rattled off ten straight points in the third quarter to take a 17-14 lead, with the big play coming on a 43 yard touchdown pass from Allen to Austin Zoda to put FHS up by three. East would answer with the wind in the fourth quarter scoring ten straight points to take a 24-17 lead setting up Frisco for their game winning drive. On the touchdown it was Allen who was less than 100% scored on fourth and goal from the one setting up Harris to catch the game winning two point try.
Frisco will take on Dallas Lincoln Saturday at 1pm at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
ROYSE CITY - Stephen Buckley scored on 29 yard touchdown run with 1:08 remaining in the game capped a wild final two minutes of the game and propelled the North Forney Falcons (10-1) to a 34-28 Class 3A Division II Region II Bi-District Playoff win over the Wills Point Tigers (4-7) at Royse City ISD Stadium.
With the score tied at 21 with just over two minutes remaining Wills Point took a 28-21 lead on a fourth and goal touchdown run by senior quarterback Dalton King.
North Forney answered in just four plays scoring on a 33 yard touchdown pass from Buckley to Daniel Anguiano to tie the game up at 28, that pass was Buckley's third touchdown toss of the night. On the ensuing possession North Forney defensive back Armon Franklin recovered a Wills Point fumble and NFHS would quickly take advantage with Buckley scoring on the first play after the miscue.
Buckley would finish the night with 157 yards passing and three touchdowns along with 55 yards rushing and a touchdown. Wills Point was led by senior quarterback Dalton King who threw for 297 yards and two touchdowns and he ran for two other scores.
North Forney which earned their first playoff win in school history will take on three time defending Class 3A State Champion Carthage next Friday night at 7:30pm at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler in a 3A Division II Region II Area Playoff.
