Dobbins Huge Day Paces Montgomery

WACO- It was just another day at the office for Montgomery RB Leroy Dobbins as the junior willed his team to a 42-20 win over Del Valle (9-2) in a Class 4A Region III Division I bi-district playoff at Waco ISD Stadium. Dobbins who helped the Bears improve to 9-2 carried the ball 43 times for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns in a flat out amazing performance.
Del Valle which kept the game close through two quarters with a tremendous display of speed was worn down by the second half and that was the difference as Montgomery outscored the Cardinals 21-6.

Both teams scored on their opening drives as Dobbins would score from a yard out to give the Bears a quick 7-0 lead. After a big kickoff return by Jovanni Valdez the Cardinals would strike back with Valdez catching a 14 yard touchdown pass from Jozef Cortez.
Dobbins would score twice more in the first quarter on a nine yard run and a 70 yard run and it appeared Montgomery was poised for a run away win as they led 21-7 after one quarter. Del Valle would cut the lead to 21-14 right before halftime as Aaron Chisolm would score on a 7 yard pass from Cortez with just eight seconds left.
Montgomery would jump back on top by two scores at 28-14 as Devin Gassaway hauled in a tremendous diving touchdown reception from Tyler Bolfing. Del Valle had a quick answer as Chisolm got his second touchdown of the day on a two yard run, the PAT failed and with 3:17 left in the third it was a 28-20 game.
Del Valle would get no closer as Montgomery just wore the Cardinals down scoring on the final play of the third quarter with a five yard run by Dobbins and a five yard run by Kevin Caywood in the fourth quarter for the final tally of 42-20.
