DeSoto defensive end Michael Richardson has committed to Texas A&M. The 6-2, 230-pound in the mold of Aggies star defender Von Miller from DeSoto will meet with A&M coach Mike Sherman during an invitation-only A&M Junior Day visit this weekend.
Richardson is ranked No. 36 in theoldcoach.com's statewide Class of 2012 ranking for rivals.com. Richardson is a quick, undersized defensive end who could emerge as the hybrid DE/LB in which A&M used Miller in the "Joker" position of A&M defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter. Richardson is very quick off the ball.
Richardson is A&M's seventh commit for 2012 but the first from North Texas. Richardson was offered a scholarship while attending an A&M camp last summer. He also attended Texas and Tennessee camps. He had numerous offers including Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Baylor and Oklahoma State.
