A 6-3, 225-pound outside linebacker, Edmond was the District 17-2A Player of the Year and the East Texas Defensive Player of the Year for smoaky.com. He's led Daingerfield to consecutive Class 2A state titles. He had 183 tackles _ 35 for losses _ five interceptions and seven fumbles caused last season.
The first day to sign a letter of intent for 2011 is Feb. 2. Edmond is Texas' 14th commitment.
Edmond received his Texas offer on the Feb. 13 Junior Day and visited Oklahoma this past weekend. Edmond strongly indicated he's was leaning toward Texas over Arkansas as a final two choices, but didn't give Texas coaches the word until Tuesday.
