The 2008 Class 3A All-State high school football team, released Tuesday, as voted on by The Associated Press Sports Editors based on regular-season performance.

Matthew Tucker, the do it all running back from Tyler Chapel Hill highlights the list, named the Offensive Player of the Year. In Tucker's senior season he rushed for 2,707 yards and 31 TD's. Tucker ends his high school career with a 3 year total of 6,307 yards and 69 TD's
Giddings senior safety Xavier Daniels was named the Defensive Player of the Year. During the season Daniels had 85 tackles and 10 interceptions, five of which came in a game against Smithville.
The list also includes Madisonville's running back Chris Whaley who has been one of the most productive offensive players in the state of Texas over the last three years, totaling more than 6,000 rushing yards and 90 touchdowns during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Whaley has earned two-time district MVP honors and was first-team all-state in 2007.
Whaley, who participated in the Football University Top Gun Showcase Camp in Florida last summer, has been selected to play in the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on January 3rd.
Casey Pachall, the Brownwood Lions' senior quarterback who has verbally committed to TCU, was the District 2-3A MVP and first team quarterback on the list. Pachall completed 61 percent of his pass attempts (164-of-270) for 2,808 yards and 31 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. Pachall also led the Lions on the ground with 684 yards rushing and a team-high 11 touchdowns on 137 carries.
