Browning Runs Wild in Everman Rout

EVERMAN- After a blowout loss to Stephenville last week the Everman Bulldogs (6-2, 4-1) took out some frustration on the Joshua Owls (2-6, 0-5) Friday night in a 74-26 win at Marr Stadium. The Bulldogs rolled up nearly 600 yards of offense as Barry Browning made just his second start of the year QB for an injured Robert Davis.
Also missing from the Everman lineup was leading rusher Cory Franklin.
Browning made the most of his opportunity rattling off 168 yards rushing and two touchdowns on just eight carries and he threw for another score in the rout. The Everman defense switched to a 3-4 look on the evening and it worked quite well as the Bulldogs constantly harassed Joshua QB Jesse Williamson, forcing bad throws and getting several sacks.
After forcing a quick three and out to start the game, the Everman offense quickly went to work scoring on a two play drive as Ruben Fletcher strolled in from 19 yards out to put EHS up 7-0. After Everman LB Jared Busby picked off Williamson, the Bulldogs would go up 14-0 on a ten yard run by James Bailey.
Joshua would put together their best drive of the night marching down the field using the short passing game and do it all back Weston Foster would score on a fourteen yard screen pass from Williamson to cut the lead to 14-6 as the PAT was blocked.
Everman would then rattle off 52 straight points scoring in every way possible on the offensive side. Bailey would haul in a 30 yard scoring pass from Browning and run for two other scores, but the most sensational play of the night came right before halftime with Browning scoring on an 87 yard touchdown run weaving in and out of the Joshua defense for the highlight reel scoring play. That play put Everman up 49-6 at halftime and made the second half garbage time as both teams used liberal substitution patterns.
Joshua's Weston Foster would move to quarterback late in the game and he'd score on a touchdown run and he would throw a touchdown pass to Ryan Davis in the fourth quarter for the final margin of 74-26.
Next week Joshua will look to get their first win in District 8-4A against Granbury, while Everman hosts Mansfield Timberview.
