SAN ANTONIO- Cibolo Steele (1-0) used a punishing ground game led by junior RB Malcolm Brown who ran over, around and through the San Antonio East Central Hornets (0-1) 35-14 on Saturday night in the final game of the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Classic at the Alamodome. Brown ran for 138 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 13 carries as the Knights showed they will be a force in Class 4A Region IV.
Steele came out firing on all cylinders as the offensive line was completely dominant and kept OU commit Torrea Peterson at bay. Brown scored on short runs of three and five yards to help SHS out to a 14-0 lead. On defense the Steele defensive line was nothing short of dominant led by DE Alex Lincoln and DT Cory Hill.

Steele's dominance was apparent in the second quarter as well as the Knights expanded the lead to 21-0 as QB Nick Sargent scored on a QB sneak.
The third quarter started out strong for Steele as after bobbling the opening kickoff Sheldon McClain returned it 65 yards down to the East Central 25. Brown shortly thereafter scored his third touchdown of the day this time from 25 yards out. This may have been the most impressive play of the night for the big uglies up front as Brown swept around left end and strolled into the endzone untouched.
East Central fought back late in the third as Chris Johnson scored from two yards out to cut the lead to 28-6. Johnson who left the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion did have 149 total yards on the night.
Early in the fourth quarter behind some good running by FB's Tyler Glasz and Alfonso Trammell Steele moved deep into Hornets territory. The drive was capped on a six yard touchdown toss from Sargent to junior WR Blake Gardner. East Central would add a late score on a seven yard run by sophomore Edwin Dearing who was impressive filling in for Johnson as he ran for 52 yards on just six carries.
