Bailey Powers Everman to Easy Win

GRANBURY - After winning their first two district games, the Granbury Pirates (4-2, 2-1) knew their matchup at home against Everman (4-2, 3-0) would be a gauge of where they stood against some of the top programs in the area. After Friday night's result, it's apparent GHS isn't quite there yet as Everman put together their most complete game of the season rolling past the Pirates 47-14 at Pirate Stadium.
The story of the game was TCU commit James Bailey who had 3 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns along with 61 rushing yards and a touchdown to lead the Everman offense which had a season high 570 total yards. Bailey also made an impact on defense forcing a fumble that would lead to the Bulldogs third touchdown of the night. The Bulldogs had a pair of 100 yard rushers as Cory Franklin would rush for 104 yards on just seven carries (all in the first half), while freshman sensation Terrence Cook ran for 130 yards to lead the Bulldogs rushers.

Everman got their offense going on their second possession as Franklin would break off a 66 yard touchdown run, as he ran over a GHS linebacker and broke loose in the secondary to put EHS up 7-0. After forcing a fumble on their next drive, Everman quickly took advantage as Franklin scored on a nine yard run to put EHS up 14-0.
On the final play of the first quarter after Tyler Wright hauled in a pass that was enough for a first down, Bailey made his presence known with a big hit forcing the ball loose. Everman DB Robert Davis would recover the fumble setting the Bulldogs up near midfield. Bailey would strike on offense this time making it 21-0 catching a 13 yard pass from junior QB Devynn Birdown. Bailey would strike again on the next Everman possession blowing by an overmatched defensive back for an 81 yard touchdown reception which took any remaining air out of Granbury's balloon.
The lead grew to 35-0 as Birdow hooked up with Davis for a 25 yard touchdown pass on 4th and 10 and Everman put it on cruise control. Tyler Wright would get GHS on the board hauling in a 52 yard touchdown pass from Tyler Dixson to make it 35-7 Everman at the half.
Everman would make it 41-7 on the third play of the half as Bailey scored on a 60 yard touchdown run and was then pulled from the game. Cook would add a 67 yard scoring run to complete the scoring for Everman making it 47-7. Granbury would get a 92 yard touchdown run late in the game from junior RB Brandon Davis who would finish with 162 yards on the ground.
Next week Granbury will visit Arlington take on Arlington Seguin, while Everman will host Burleson.
