Arlington ISD hires; HPs Pugh to Granbury

Arlington Sam Houston has named Danny Edelman as its new football coach according to district officials. Edelman has been head coach at Bay City the last year and previously was at Red Oak.
The AISD named Carlos Andrew Lynn as Seguin's coach. Lynn has been at Cedar Hill since 1998. He most recently was defensive coordinator and power lifting coach.

Granbury named Highland Park assistant Scotty Pugh its new head coach next week. Pugh has been co-offensive coordinator for the Scots, who won the 2005 Class 4A state championship and were in the 4A Division II final against Lake Travis this year.
Pugh, 37, is an Abilene native. He and his wife Katy have a 7-year-old boy named Kelton.
He has also been an assistant at A&M Consolidated and Abilene Cooper, where he was head baseball coach at both schools and compiled a 118-52 record.
Pugh played minor league baseball for the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies from 1991-96.
At Bay City, Edelman had a 6-5 record in his first year after moving from Red Oak.
Under former coach George McFarland, Sam Houston was 0-9 last season with four wins over the past four years. Sam Houston has a history of producing numerous major college players and has had highly successful and highly inconsistent to poor teams for the last 40 years.
Seguin is coming off a 1-9 season but had experienced some early success with former coach Ricky Albus.
A Wilmer-Hutchins graduate, Lynn helped Cedar Hill coach Joey Maguire build a program that went 16-0 in 2006 and had a dramatic goal-line stand in the state semifinals to advance to the state final.
