Arlington Bowie used its team speed and some clutch catches by junior receivers Langston Williams and Montra Wilson and senior Jonathan Gazaille to beat Richland in the Coppell 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament.

Both return to the Fox Sports State Tournament at Texas A&M on July 11-12.
Bowie held off Rockwall in the semis and Richland beat Arlington Martin in the other semi.
Tyler Lee won the A&M qualifier over Cy Fairbanks.
Bowie quarterback Christian Matthews continues to grow in being comfortable at running an offense.
Bowie, expected to be one of the state's top teams, used the elusive Williams on deep routes and the 6-3 Nelson was strong at making physical catches in traffic.
Bowie senior defensive back Dexter Linton looked great as Bowie rolled through a bracket that included a watered-down Hebron and Coppell JV, which was filling in for a late drop. Hebron has already qualified for state.
Bowie did hold off a second-half rally by Southlake Carroll, which could have tied the game with a 1-point conversion in the last 30 seconds but opted for a 2-point try for the win which didn't convert.
Richland advanced to the semifnals of its second-consecutive qualifier. Richland lost in the semis last week at Southlake Carroll.
But junior quarterback Tyler Cotton continues to impress. He's a different 5-11 body-type from former SLC star Chase Daniel, but Cotton has the quick release, terrific accuracy and the same over-riding confidence that every throw he attempts is going where he wants it.
Cotton, maybe even a better college baseball prospect, has limited his pitching and playing to the Richland summer team and his time at football is paying off.
Richland senior Phillip Gonzales was a productive dual threat quarterback last year but his move to receiver is paying big dividends.
Gonzales often breaks free from coverage with excellent speed and consistently makes jumping, acrobatic catches.
With seven state qualifers in the pools, there were some talented teams which didn't advance.
UPDATE
Richland defeated Plano East in a double-overtime thriller in pool play. Richland receiver Theo Jackson made a juggling catch for the win.. Richland was without speed receiver Phillip Anderson, one of several usual players taking ACT entrance exams. Anderson could help Richland advance a game or two at A&M...
Plano East is rotating junior quarterbacks Brandon Wesley and Ryan Foster, who likely have a competition right up until the first week of the season... Sophomore WRs Ryan Garrey and Lyndell Johnson are coming on strong for East..
East has finished 2-1 in every pool but hasn't yet advanced to the semis of a tournament...
Coppell also is rotating quarterbacks with Conner Joplin and Hayden Hawk. Senior WR Mike Campos, the son of former Cowboys coach Dave Campos has moved back to Coppell with Campos rejoining the staff. Mike Campos had attended Coppell West Middle School when Campos previously was Cowboys coach... Coppell OL Justin Favreau has gotten an SMU offer.. Senior WR Jordan Tollett looked strong in the spring with good hands and a 4.5... Coppell TE Tony Trahan continues to draw college camp buzz and will be much more featured in Coppell's offense with new offensive coordinator Jeff Merket, who was Cowboys coach Bob Shipley's offensive coordinator for two state title games at Burnet and was an 11-year assistant for Art Briles at Stephenville.
Martin has never been a 7-on-7 team but quarterback Cruz Garcia is getting some good rhythm with a couple tall, talented receivers.
