Allen wins Elite 11 golden gun

Dozens of very talented quarterbacks were in Fort Worth Friday to take place in the EA sports Elite 11 regional workout.
They competed against each other all afternoon.

However, at the end of the day, one quarterback ended up wearing the gold-colored shirt for the golden gun quarterback of the Elite 11.
That quarterback was San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights' Drew Allen.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound gunslinger looked great all day and advanced through the first round.
"In the first round I felt like I had hit every single one of them. I had like 18 points so I was pretty pumped. They told me I needed to come back, but I didn't know there was only four quarterbacks in the final competition," Allen said.
Those four quarterbacks that advanced to the final competition were Allen, Jacob Karam from Friendswood, Drew Hollingshead from Rockwall Heath and Stephen Warren from Abilene.
However, in the end, Allen finished on top.
"I came out here, took what my coaches had taught me and put it to work. I just did my thing and I guess I did pretty good. I don't know. I don't like bragging," Allen said.
Luckily enough people saw his impressive performance so he won't need to brag.
Part of his success was helped by his work with a coach that raised two sons into pretty solid quarterbacks.
"I've been working with coach Sonny Detmer, his sons Ty and Koy. He's taught me so many things. I just was thinking about those things as I was going through my throws," Allen said.
So far Allen only holds an offer from New Mexico State, but after today's performance, that could change soon.
