Allen garners first offer

One of the biggest moments for any recruit is when they pick up that first offer.
Recently San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights quarterback Drew Allen was able to breathe a sigh of relief.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound quarterback received his first offer and needless to say, was very excited.
"I just got my first offer yesterday from New Mexico State," Allen said. "I was very excited about it. I already knew some about them. I'm pretty sure they have one of the top passing offenses in the nation. A passing offense is one of the big things I'm looking for in a school."
As for other schools, Allen has been busy making his rounds to see campuses and has more to come.
"I went to Auburn's junior day. I went junior days at Texas A&M and Texas Tech. Then I took an unofficial visit to Ole Miss because I couldn't make it to the junior day there."
"I'm going to SMU this weekend. Then Kansas and Oklahoma want me to come on the 12th. Texas A&M wants me to come on the 19th," Allen said.
As for his team, Allen says they have been working on getting bigger and stronger.
"Right now we're just working hard in the weight room," Allen said. "We're pushing each other to get better. Our team is really tight. We have some great team chemistry."
That team chemistry combines well with what Allen says is his teams biggest strength.
"I'd say discipline. We're probably not the biggest team on the field, but we have great coaches that have us well disciplined. We won state two years ago and you can't do that without a great coaching staff," Allen said.
His coaching staff can probably help with the basics for Allen as he feels that is something he would like to perfect this season.
"For me this season I just want to become as mechanically sound as I can be. If I do that, passing percentage, yards and all that other stuff will come," Allen said.
