Another Texas high school football prospect is headed to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Grant Delpit, a four-star safety with nearly 30 offers, announced his transfer from Houston (Texas) Lamar to IMG Academy this evening.
Delpit will join Kellen Mond and Jhamon Ausbon, both Texans who transferred to IMG Academy earlier this January.
The standout prospect had this to say about the decision to play his senior season at IMG Academy.
"I made the decision because at IMG there is the the best opportunity to prepare me for college academically and for football," Delpit said. "It'll also allow me to live in a college type environment that will prepare me for college in January.
"I'm moving out there on July 18th and will get started with class, football right away."
Delpit released a Top 10 list of programs in late April, but that was followed by new offers from Clemson, Florida State, and Michigan. He plans to consider these programs moving forward and things could certainly change after the move to Florida.
Rated a 5.8 four-star prospect, Delpit is the No. 21 overall safety in the nation and the No. 41 prospect on the Rivals.com Texas Postseason Top 100 for the 2017 class. He earned District 20-6A All-District Football Honorable Mention this past season.
Delpit earned offers to play in both the Under Armour All-American Bowl and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, and chose to play in San Antonio at the U.S. Army Bowl this January. He plans to graduate early this December and enroll in the college of his choice in January of 2017.
