The Class 5A All State Team is loaded with Division I prospects that will compete on the collegiate level, many others that will continue their gridiron career at smaller institutions, and all who had memorable 2010 seasons.
The Class 5A Player of the Year is Euless Trinity's Brandon Carter. Carter is a highlight reel waiting to happen every time that he steps on the field. The explosive athlete
was Trinity's leading receiver, leading passer, rushed for over 1400 yards, and scored 19 touchdowns for the Trojans. Carter, who was also used in the secondary and on specialty teams, lead the Trojans back to the state finals,
The defending State champs were beat by Pearland in the 5A Division I state championship game 28-24 but Carter was the key to the Trojans playoff wins leading into the championship game.
There was no doubt that Carter was the most dangerous offensive weapon and one of the most versatile athletes in the state.
The Class 5A Coach of the Year award will be given to Tony Heath of Pearland.
Heath, ended his 14th year at Pearland leading the Oilers to the 5A Division I state championship and first in school history. Heath has a 143-year-record of 133-38 at Pearland.
Behind Heath's guidance and with the 16-0 season Pearland is now in the top ten winningest football programs in the state during the last decade. This was Pearland's 11th consecutive playoff appearance.
"Class 5A has a strong tradition of championship football, outstanding athletes, and competitive programs.
