2010 All-District 3-5A: Co-MVPs reflect balance
Odessa running back Bradley Marquez and Abilene quarterback Ronnell Sims were selected as the District 3-5A Co-Offensive Most Valuable Players and Abilene's Steve Warren, Abilene Cooper's Mike Spradlin and Midland's Craig Yenzer shared Coach of the Year honors.

All three teams advanced to the third round of the playoffs after going 4-1 in district. Cooper and Midland finished with 11-2 records while defending 5A Division II state champ Abilene was 9-4. Denton Guyer ousted Cooper; Coppell eliminated Midland and Southlake Carroll defeated Abilene last week.
Marquez rushed for a school-record 2,075 yards during the regular season. Sims accounted for more than 2,700 yards and 29 touchdowns, completing 142-of-224 passing for 1,893 yards and 19 scores and rushing for 893 yards and 10 TDs.
Abilene linebacker Anthony Carriola was the Defensive MVP. Carriola had 156 total tackles with 23 for loss, a sack, two interception and five fumble recoveries.
Heralded Oklahoma State commit Herschel Sims had to overcome season-long shoulder injuries but was named first-team after getting 936 yards on 132 carries, nine TDs rushing with 17 catches for 207 yards and two TDs receiving.
Sims, who was on the cover of theoldcoach.com's preseason Friday Night Football magazine along with Cibolo Steele's Malcolm Brown and San Antonio Madison's Aaron Green was the Class 5A Player of the Year in '09 after rushing for 2,352 yards rushing and 40 touchdowns.
